There are occasions in life when you realise, it’s now or never!

As the NHS embarked on another large-scale restructuring, I was kindly presented with the opportunity to leave and do something else!

I’ve always loved interior design, upholstery and soft furnishings. I had improved my skills in upholstery through twenty years of practice and projects for friends and family, and study at my local college; this was my ‘what if’ moment.  Early in 2026 I made the decision to focus full-time on doing what I loved and excelled at most.

After further enhancing my knowledge and techniques through studying at the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMUSF) accredited Oxford School of Upholstery‍ ‍ I launched Upholstery by Vanessa.

Based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, I’m relishing the challenge of lots of exciting new upholstery projects and getting to know lots of new clients.
